In "Top Gun 2: Maverick", Tom Cruise hops back into the cockpit as a Maverick and teaches his opponents to fear with daring maneuvers. But first, the ace of fliers has to prove that it does not belong to the old iron. Here is the new trailer:
Elite pilot Maverick (Tom Cruise), still possessed by burning ambition in "Top Gun", has become a fossil in the eyes of his superiors 34 years later: An excellent pilot, but also a driven adrenaline junkie with no chances of promotion, his field of application more and more is replaced by modern technology. Here is the new trailer for "Top Gun 2: Maverick":
In "Top Gun 2: Maverick" Maverick is a teacher at a Navy flight school. He teaches, among others, Bradley (Miles Teller), the son of his wingman Goose (Anthony Edwards), who died in the first part. Also, he fights against the arrogance of his superior (Ed Harris), who sees Maverick's time long past and has his worries dispelled by a friend (Jennifer Connelly) who runs a bar next to his Navy base. One thing has not changed: flying is still everything for Maverick.
Also, there is Maverick's rival from the first part, Tom 'Iceman' Kazanski (Val Kilmer). However, it is not yet known whether he will play a similarly large role as in the predecessor.
No goodbye, but there will be a repeat with composer Harold Faltermeyer, who was already responsible for parts of the extremely popular soundtrack for "Top Gun", which included "Danger Zone" and "Take My Breath Away". With the "Axel F" theme from "Beverly Hills Cop", he also composed one of the catchiest songs of all blockbuster soundtracks.
"Top Gun 2: Maverick" will be released on July 16, 2020.
