Synopsis: The recently released film 'Gum Gum Ganesha' has created a lot of buzz among the audience. This is Anand Deverakonda's new offering after his last film 'Baby', in which he has experimented with a crime-comedy genre.
The film is directed by Udaya Bommishetti and released in cinemas today. Here we present the review of the US premiere show.
Reviews: Story Overview
The story revolves around a petty thief Ganesh (Anand Deverakonda) who decides to become a billionaire after being betrayed by his girlfriend.
For this, he plans to steal a rare and expensive diamond from a jewelry shop in Hyderabad. But during the robbery, things go wrong and Ganesh loses the diamond embedded in the Ganesh idol of a politician from Kurnool.
Ganesh's journey to get this diamondback is the main plot of 'Gum Gum Ganesha'.
Performance
Anand Deverakonda's performance in the film is average. He has chosen a new subject, different from 'Baby', but his performance does not make much impact.
Heroine Pragati Srivastava only looks good but has nothing special to act. Nayan Sarika appears as a guest artist. The awesome Emmanuel has got a lead role but his comic dialogues fail to make the audience laugh.
Vennela Kishore's acting is useless and the villain Raj Arjun also proves to be boring. Satyam Rajesh and other actors only fill the screen.
Technical aspects
'Gum Gum Ganesha' is based on an old and proven story but its execution is weak. The film seems like a series of scenes and songs. The background music is loud but the visuals are disappointing.
Analysis
There have been no good crime comedies in Telugu in recent times. 'Gum Gum Ganesha' belongs to the same genre but it uses the regular elements of commercial cinema which fail to bring much laughter.
The plot of the film is good on paper but its essence is lost on screen. The story has no special moments and there is no thrill.
The first half focuses on the romantic drama of the hero which seems artificial right from the beginning.
The second half is an exaggerated drama between the hero and the villain gang. An unnecessary romantic track and songs are added to it, which further cumbers the story.
