After the 1996 blockbuster film 'Indian', veteran actor Kamal Haasan and acclaimed director Shankar Shanmugam are back on the big screen once again with 'Indian 2'. Story and main plot
The story begins with Chitram Aravindan (Siddharth) and his 'The Barking Dogs' YouTube channel, who work to expose corruption in the city. Due to this work, he also has to serve a jail sentence. After being released from jail, Aravindan realizes that only Senapathy (Kamal Haasan) can effectively combat corruption in India. Through the #ComeBackIndian campaign, they bring Senapathy back from Taipei. On Senapathi's return, he appeals to the youth to free their families from bribery.
Performance and Character
Kamal Haasan has brought life to Senapathi's character. His normal expressions and deep acting have won the hearts of the audience. Siddharth has also played his character well, especially in the emotional scenes. Samuthirakani has given a strong performance despite less screen time, while Bobby Simha and other supporting cast have also done a satisfactory job in their roles.
Direction and Technical Aspects
Shankar has brilliantly bridged the long gap of 28 years and presented Senapathi as a 106-year-old man. The film presents the fight against corruption in a new and modern context. However, the weak screenplay and lack of engaging drama give the film an incomplete feel.
Anirudh's music disappoints, failing to add to the dignity of the film. Ravi Varman's cinematography is adequate, but the lack of tight editing by A Sreekar Prasad affects the pace of the film. The production values are good and give the film a grand look.
